We had a great event on Thursday July 23rd at the Fort Bend County Library in Fulshear despite tropical storm Bertha.
Bill Spizzirri gave his 21 facts about the Moon presentation to a crowd of 45 people. The public asked many questions, and the presentation lasted a full hour. Sanika Godse assisted in the presentation room and helped setup chairs as additional people showed up during the presentation. Bill used our new voice amplifier that Stephen Walker recently donated, and Bill’s voice could be clearly heard at the back of the room.
After the presentation, Miguel Duarte assisted by his daughter Julieta had his telescope setup inside near the entrance of the library pointed to a picture of Jupiter hung up on a far wall.
Fortunately, Bill, Sanika and Miguel lived nearby and did not have far to drive to attend the event.
Mac and Robin Hooton, coming from far Missouri City, were delayed by the storm but arrived in time to assist.
The library and we were blown away by the turn out and it just shows that people are interested in space and astronomy enough to brave a tropical storm. This was our third event at this branch since the fall of 2025 and we will return with hopefully clear skies.
