To provide the Fort Bend County community with memorable experiences of the night sky, FBAC presents an exceptional telescope system in the East Dome of the George Observatory. All equipment was funded through the philanthropic gifts of individuals, foundations, and corporations to FBAC.

In 2024, FBAC purchased a Planewave 17-inch Corrected Dall-Kirkham (CDK) telescope and Astro-Physics mount with associated hardware and software and installed it at the East Dome at the George Observatory. This system provides dazzling viewing for the public, as well as a research quality system for making contributions to astronomy science.

Your gifts support the East Dome Maintenance and Enhancement Fund, providing funds for items such as

• Necessary equipment maintenance,
• Eyepieces and astronomy cameras,
• Improved display monitors and specialty software,
• Spectroscopy equipment for outreach and scientific research,
• An improved climate control system to extend the life of the dome’s equipment, and
• A future main telescope and mount to replace our current equipment, once it reaches its end of life.
