We had a great night on Thursday February 5th at Randle High School in Richmond with Emerzen Echaves organizing the event which has now become a biannual event for FBAC. We had close to 60 students and parents with a few girl scouts attending.
Randle HS has a really nice large auditorium where Don Cooper presented in more detail on his guidance calculations for the Saturn V rocket of the Apollo Moon missions. Don just celebrated his 88th birthday. Happy Birthday Don! He is still going strong sharing his life experiences to both young and older minds alike. We are so fortunate to have him as an AOW presenter.
After the presentation the students were treated to an array of telescopes including FBAC volunteer scopes and school scopes that Emerzen setup which were operated by Sean Carey, Bill Dillon, Todd Dunnavant, John Spencer, Wayne Wiegand and myself. We showed Jupiter, Saturn, Orion Nebula and the double star Castor.
We look forward to Emerzen having us back next fall for another great event.
