On July 22, 2025, Chris Morisette received an Astronomical League Master Outreach Award.

“The lion share of my outreach activity involves volunteering at the Fort Bend Astronomy Club East Dome telescope…
I find that providing a simple analogy is an effective means of explaining astronomy to the layperson. For example, it is useful to describe the sky as an imaginary sphere encircling the Earth (aka the Celestial Sphere) to help explain deep sky object movement throughout the night. Also, people love the laser pointer, which we use to show the location of target objects in the night sky.”
