The George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park is where we do most of our Observing.
The George Observatory is a great place to hang out and observe. As an FBAC member, you can volunteer in the domes and observe at the same time!
FBAC is teamed up with the Houston Museum of Natural Science to provide volunteers for the George Observatory. We show the public the wonders of the night sky!
The 18" Reflector Telescope in the East Dome of the George Observatory is owned and operated by the Fort Bend Astronomy Club. As a club member, you can train on the telescope, become certified, and then reserve the telescope for observing, or to conduct your own astronomical research.
Joining The Fort Bend Astronomy Club as a new member is just a few mouse clicks away! Or, if you are a current member, you can renew your membership online. Dues are $30.00 per year for regular members and $5.00 each for Associate (family) Members. Membership for college students is $10.00 annually.

Our New Member Application Form is quick and easy to fill out. Be sure to include your spouse and kids as Associate Members if they are going to participate in FBAC functions such as volunteering at the George Observatory, volunteering/attending Astronomy On Wheels Star Parties at Local schools, learning to operate the telescopes at the George Observatory, attending the monthly club meetings etc..
Astronomy is a fun and easy hobby to get into, you do not need any experience or knowledge of astronomy to become a member. If you know how to "Look Up" at night, you are on your way to becoming a seasoned Amateur Astronomer! FBAC has Loaner Telescopes that can be used by members, provided that the member attends a few volunteer events with the borrowed telescope.
"Volunteering" is as easy as joining our club, and showing up at the George Observatory or Astronomy On Wheels events, and manning a telescope or assisting with crowd control. No experience is necessary and volunteering has never been so much fun! After you fill out the New Member Application From and pay your annual dues, we will send a confirmation email with further info on how to volunteer at the George Observatory and how to join our email list (which is used to communicate upcoming activities, events, volunteer opportunities, telescope training dates and times, etc.). Just think, you (and your family!) are on your way to being members of an Astronomy Club!
If you are a current FBAC Member and need to renew your membership, please use the FBAC Membership Renewal Form. Please fill out the form completely, it helps to keep our roster information up to date. Thanks to all of the volunteer efforts of our members, the Fort Bend Astronomy Club is on track to be one of the top three astronomy clubs in the country in terms of volunteer hours put forth by its members during Public Viewing Nights at the George Observatory and during Astronomy On Wheels Events at schools in our area. And let's not forget about Astronomy Day, one of the largest astronomy events in Texas. Astronomy Day will be held on October 24, 2015, so mark your calendars and plan on volunteering!
New members are always welcome, come and join us.
